Nature is indeed a Mother

So we had a baby yesterday.
Five hours later, voila!
One enormous baby -- 9 pounds! -- arrived in good shape. Highly amusing, as the doctor had orignally planned to induce on the 25th but labor started naturally. Then she came in about 2-2:30ish to break Eileen's water and as E was moving her leg at the doctor's direction, her water broke on its own. I guess Nicky can take direction!
About 9 a.m. Xander is showing Mommy where the baby is, blissfully unaware that soon his life will change forever (bwahahaha!)

One baby, safely arrived. He was very, very purple at first, but it went away quickly. His 1-minute APGAR was 8, the 5-minute was 9.

A kiss for Mommy, who does babies really good! subliminal message: have another baby have another baby have another baby

Happy and tired trio

Daddy gets his hands on Nicky

Nicky's proud aunts, me in the first pic, Shannon and Karen in the second

Paternal grandparents, maternal grandparents -- we're lucky to all live in the same town. Only Shannon and her husband live out-of-state.

Xander, Nicky, and (maternal, maternal) great-grandmother Irene. She's a very young 91 and Nicky's birthday is her wedding anniversary.

Xander's favorite phrase: What's that?

It's your brother and you are so screwed, little man!

Look fast! Nobody's trying to kill anybody!

We kept telling Xander to say "Cheese!" and he did, but was left wondering why no one was giving him any (it's a favorite food)

Papparazzi! We have no shame -- Xander is probably blind from the flashes since his birth, why should Nicky be any different?

Here's two photos stitched together (sorry about your butt, Shannon!) to give some idea of the size of the room and how many people were in it all day -- there's actually a couple of folks you can't see. We were like this for Xander's birth, too -- we're way tribal, yo! (That's

An exhausting but wonderful day was had by all. And while anything's possible, early indications are that Nicky'll be another brown-eyed redhead just like his big brother. Another knockout cutie!

Date: 2004-08-26 09:14 am (UTC)That is one FULL hospital room, man. Makes me nostalgic for when Matthew was born. Course, none of our family was around for that, all being out of state. Just the wee three of us. *g*
Yay for new nephews :)

Also, you are the living image of your mother. I thought I was the only person who did that sort of freaky resemblance.
