We can has [livejournal.com profile] spn_j2_bigbang again now!

The second fic that I signed up to do art for, Phoenix is now up. Written by [livejournal.com profile] parenthetical and [livejournal.com profile] zooey_glass04, it's a gen case file with a terrific hook:

"Bobby's got a case for us in Arizona.... House fire... started in the nursery."

Toss in a six-month old barely saved from the fire, a traumatized older brother, a whiff of demonic forces, and you've got a mystery that Sam and Dean can't turn away from.

So check out the art and then go read the story.

Seriously, the art work that's coming out of this challenge has been nothing short of stunning and yours is gorgeous. Wonderful work.

Thanks! I think I really lucked out -- both stories I signed up for were full of clear, evocative images that really gave me something to work with.

And you know, it's not like SPN isn't all about the fire imagery. But I did think it was funny that I ended up with "Spark" with fireman!Dean and "Phoenix" with a fire demon. It made my google image searches pretty easy since a lot of what I came across was potentially useful for both projects. Fandom + internet = multitask training!

Love the art for Phoenix! And while I never object to a chance to ogle the boys, I particularly was entranced by the boy with the flaming knife. I love how you made his hands sort of child-like and innocent ... and the cyrillic lettering across the flames ... just captured the story brilliantly!

Thanks! I haven't done a lot of manips and this was a fun way to get motivated and try a couple of ideas out. I'm thrilled with the way things came out. Thanks heavens for technology -- if I had to depend solely on eye-hand-pencil-paper to get my point across, everyone on the 'Net would be full of concern for the brain-damaged kindergardener who's somehow been reading all that SPN fic.... *g*

I did a search for pictures of children/teenagers holding things and came across this boy holding a leaf. No head or legs, just his torso from neck to waist, and those marvelous hands. And I went through about a half-dozen knives before I found one that felt right and scaled correctly.

Hello! Just popping over to say thank you again. Sorry it has taken me a little time - I have had trouble regaining coherency after letting go of our fic, ahahah!

We love both pieces of artwork SO MUCH. As you said in your email, they do fit in beautifully with the comm, and they are SO GORGEOUS. I love the boys, and the view over Phoenix, and the quote you picked out. And the Jacob artwork is almost more awesome even than that, if such a thing is possible! It really feels like Jacob, to me, with that scrawny little body. And the Cyrillic lettering looks fabulous.

We really appreciate the work you put into this - it adds so much to the fic. Also, I feel we should hire you to write our fic summaries in future, as yours pwns our attempt, ahahah.

Thank you! <333
