Vicodin, never leave me again!
Dec. 4th, 2009 05:41 pmVaguely TMI, but eh.
So this week I desperately needed to see the doctor because of an abscess in an awkward place that would not drain. By Thursday morning I was barely walking. Pain, pain, omg pain.
Wednesday, called the PCP, who is new and I've never seen before. She was unavailable until Monday but one of the other (male) docs in the practice could see me the next day. Did I still want to wait for the female doctor, the receptionist delicately inquired? No, pain, pain, omg pain, I replied. I feel you, she answered, and took my info.
Other doc turned out to be B.D. Wong's younger, even cuter brother, in crisp light purple button-down shirt and tie. He was calm and sweet and restful and reassuring just to look at -- really, like human valium. The nurse he automatically brought in before checking out my TMI was also nice. He listened to me and asked me questions as well as giving me information and offered choices as to what he could do for me.
I can't remember the last time I felt so comfortable at a doctor's office.
And he took the pain, pain, omg pain seriously. I walked out of there with a scrip for Vicodin as well as the Amoxicillin for the infection. AND, in a stunningly wonderful preventative move, a scrip for Fluconazole, to take care of the inevitable yeast infection that using the Amoxicillin will cause.
Adequate pain control and sensible preventive care? And less than 3 miles from my home? And the three prescriptions cost me just $24?
Believe me, I know just how lucky and privileged I am.
Also, Vicodin yay!
