It's beginning to look a lot like Yuletide

But first, now for something completely different. GIP!

Anyway....

I've gone and made my nominations to the new big list for [livejournal.com profile] yuletide. Heh. I've got less than no interest in Miami Vice the series but the movie pushes many of my "need fic" buttons. And Dexter! Love the books, loved the first ep on Showtime's free weekend, have enlisted [livejournal.com profile] i_am_racerx to record the season for me. Yay for serial killers! You know, I am definitely offering to write Dexter. What would be more fun, to try to recreate Dexter's own voice or to be convincing as one of the other characters? Hmmmm.

Hm, I was thinking of signing up to Yuletide this year. Could you tell me when the story deadlines are likely to be? I'd like to do it, if it's at all do-able.

[Also the 1940 MARK OF ZORRO! I would kill to see fic for that. Well, not kill, but definitely flourish a sword threateningly. *g*]

Okay, read this! Slipping (http://yuletidetreasure.org/archive/2/slipping.html)

The deadline is usually Dec. 21 -- all stories need to be uploaded by then (though you can do it earlier, if you're one of those horrid over-achievers!) and then there's a bunch of scurrying behind the scenes and then the site goes live on Dec. 25. All the stories have recipient names, but no author names. People gorge themselves on reading and lots of rec posts get named. Then, on Jan. 1, the author names are revealed.

And then people start writing New Years' Resolution stories (basically, if it's on the list and you want to write it, go for it).

Mm, yay, thanks for pointing me at that story. I have a full-scale identity porn kink now, thanks to DCU, and that just hit it in exciting new ways.

December 21 sounds like a do-able deadline. *dithers* Hmm. Thanks for telling me!
